Successfully complete 75 hours of Board-approved courses covering the topics required by the AREAB in subjects related to real estate appraisal during the last 10 years. This must include 15 hours of the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) during the last 2 years. |

Submit a completed application, transcripts, request for education credit form, and appropriate fee to the AREAB. There is no experience requirement for Trainee Appraisers. |

Trainee appraisal experience must be under the direct supervision of a Licensed or Certified Real Property appraiser. If the Trainee plans to use these experience points as part of the experience needed for licensure, the work must be included in the Trainee’s assignment log, and the appraisal report must be signed by the supervising appraiser. |

In addition all registered, licensed and certified appraisers must satisfactorily complete a minimum of 30 hours of appraiser continuing education approved by the FREAB, without duplication of material, during each two year renewal period. The 30 hours must include: (1) the 7-hour USPAP; (2) at least 3 hours of review and update of the Alabama Real Estate Appraisal License Law and Board Rules, including an introduction to other state and federal laws affecting real estate appraisals; and (3) a minimum of 20 "specialty" hours approved by the Alabama Real Estate Appraisal Board. These three topics complete the 30-hour continuing education requirement. |

Annual license notices will be mailed to all current licensees in the first week of August each year. The renewal forms with appropriate remittance should be sent to reach the Board no later than September
30th. (September 30th postmarks will be honored.) Proof of Continuing education will not be due with the annual fees on the even number licensure years, but will be due in connection with the odd number years licensing fees renewal. Appraisers must submit proof of 28 hours of continuing education credit with their odd number year renewal fees/application. At least 7 of these hours must be in approved USPAP. |

Remember that every appraiser must have a full fifteen-hour USPAP course with exam at least once every six years. |
